Suspect in deadly Peoria crash that killed teen girl arrested in Missouri

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- The man who allegedly fled a Peoria crash that resulted in a teen girl's death was arrested in St. Louis. Shamarr A. Greenlee, 35, was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, said Semone Roth, a spokeswoman for the Peoria Police Department. On Friday, July 24, the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office issued a warrant for Greenlee's arrest. At 10 p.m. that night, the Woodson Terrace Police Department let Peoria police know Greenlee was apprehended in St. Louis, Mo., Roth said. She said Greenlee is currently being held at the St. Louis County Jail in Clayton, Mo., and is awaiting extradition to Peoria. His arrest stems from an early morning crash that occurred Thursday on Peoria's East Bluff. Roth said the two-car collision occurred at about 1:20 a.m. near the intersection of North Central and East McClure avenues, a few blocks from Glen Oak Park. Officers with the Peoria Police Department tried to stop the car Greenlee was allegedly driving a few minutes before the crash. The vehicle initially pulled over, but later fled at a high rate of speed, Roth said. A few minutes later, the collision happened, resulting in the death of 17-year-old Isis Horn. Roth said two other people were also injured. Roth said Greenlee had allegedly run away from the scene after the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
