Suspect in 2025 Killeen fatal crash apprehended
KILLEEN, Texas (FOX 44) - The suspect in connection with a fatal crash in Killeen from February 2025 is now in jail. Killeen Police officers originally responded to a major crash in the 3200 block of W. Stan Schlueter Loop at approximately 2:31 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025. The preliminary investigation revealed that a black Jeep Patriot was leaving a private parking lot, when a white Jeep Cherokee traveling eastbound in the outside lane on Stan Schlueter Loop struck it. Police said the driver of the Cherokee, identified as 42-year-old Lena L. Jacobs, of Killeen, was transported to AdventHealth in stable condition. The driver of the Patriot, identified as 54-year-old Vincent Tyrone McKnight, was airlifted to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition. McKnight later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Nicola James. Through the investigation, medical records showed Jacobs had a breath alcohol concentration of 0.30. Investigators with the Killeen Police Department's Traffic Unit presented the case to the Bell County District Attorney’s Office. A complaint for Intoxication Manslaughter was returned on March 14, 2026. Justice of the Peace Nicola James issued a warrant for the arrest of Jacobs. Officers found and arrested Jacobs in the 1900 block of Lions Gate Lane without incident on May 20, 2026. She was transported to the Killeen City Jail. Jacobs is now in the Bell County Jail and is charged with Intoxication Manslaughter with Vehicle. Her bond is set at $250,000.
