Suspect dies after police chase ends in four-car crash, fire in Harford County

Officials are investigating a police chase that led to a suspect's death and a multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday. On June 9, officers observed what they believed to be a drug transaction on Meadwood Drive, and they soon discovered that the car involved had several violations. When authorities attempted to stop the vehicle near Long Bar Harbor, the driver refused to pull over. The driver then headed eastbound on Route 40 and passed through the intersection at Bata Boulevard. Upon reaching the intersection of Route 40 and Route 543, police said the vehicle collided with four other cars, causing the suspect's vehicle to catch fire. The driver in the car became trapped due to the crash and died. Officials said the entire police pursuit lasted 96 seconds. Two individuals were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Authorities reported that the only person who died in the incident was the suspect. Sheriff Gahler said they believe they know who the suspect is but are not releasing the suspect's name at this time, adding that he is an adult.
