Student athlete dead after 3-vehicle crash in Marion County
MARION, Ohio (WCMH) -- One person is dead following a three-vehicle crash in Claridon Township in Marion County. According to an Ohio State Highway Patrol media release, at 5:28 p.m. Friday evening, 19-year-old Eva Moran, of Caledonia, was traveling eastbound on State Route 309 near milepost 21 when she rear-ended 19-year-old Nathaniel Blankenship, of Marion. Moran's car then went over the center line, where 23-year-old Dalila Zamudio, of Galion, struck Moran's car. Moran was thrown from the vehicle. Moran was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Blankenship was treated at the scene and Zamudio sustained minor injuries, for which she was taken to the hospital by a third party. Moran was a University of Toledo athlete, and the school has since posted its condolences to her loved ones. Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by First Consolidated Fire Department, Marion Township EMS, Fort Morrow EMS, the Marion County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
