Somerset toddler faces long recovery after severe Crock-Pot burn accident

SOMERSET, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Somerset toddler is facing a long recovery after suffering severe burns in an accident last week. Just shy of two years old, Daelyn Davis is described as a sweet little boy, full of life. His aunt, Abigail Davis, says Daelyn and her son are like brothers. "They're mischievous together; they get into a lot of stuff that they shouldn't, but they love each other,” she said. “They're best friends, and I love him. He's just so sweet. He just loves the Bible, and he loves his mom. He's such a sweet baby." On Thursday night, a crockpot fell after Daelyn tugged on the cord, and it spilled hot liquid on him, leaving him with third-degree burns all over his body. "I was scared to death,” said Davis. “I didn't know what to do. I didn't know how to act. I just wanted to know that he was going to be okay." His mother, Samantha, called an ambulance, but because of the severity of his injuries, Daelyn was flown to a hospital in Nashville. He's still in pain, but his aunt says he's slowly but surely making progress. "He's trying to play and smile,” she said. “And he's watching the little movies that he likes. He's doing the best he can do right now. He's a fighter for sure." Daelyn underwent surgery Monday morning- the first of several procedures to help his skin heal. Though it's heartbreaking to see him in this state, Davis said Daelyn continues finding moments of joy. "When he got up, and he was walking around and smiling and babbling in the hospital, that gave us all peace of mind and a piece of hope and comfort.
