Somerset motorcyclist killed, woman hurt in 2-vehicle crash
SOMERSET, Ky. (FOX 56) — Officials with the Kentucky State Police (KSP) announced on Wednesday that a Somerset man was killed and a woman was hurt in a two-vehicle crash. Authorities wrote in a news release that around 6 p.m. on June 10, troopers with KSP Post 11 in London were called regarding a deadly crash on Clifty Hill Road near the Wilson Road intersection involving a motorcycle and a Volkswagen SUV. A preliminary investigation showed that Shelby Crawford, 32, was driving a Volkswagen Atlas heading north on Clifty Hill Road and was in the process of making a left-hand turn onto Wilson Road. At that time, Nathan Grider, 34, of Somerset, was allegedly driving a motorcycle "at a high rate of speed" while heading south on Clifty Hill and allegedly struck the front passenger side of Crawford's SUV. Following the crash, Grider was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries by the Pulaski County Coroner's Office. Crawford was also hospitalized and has since been released. State police noted that while drugs and alcohol weren't believed to have played a role in the crash, a toxicology test is pending. Trooper Austin Cornett is leading the investigation.
