Skiers, snowboarders race in tribute to man killed in Lee Canyon accident
Lee Canyon had an amazing day on Saturday with the 11th annual Chris Ruby Memorial Cup, a ski and snowboard race held in memory of Chris Ruby, who passed away in a snowboarding accident at Lee Canyon in 2014. Jeff Ruby, Chris' father, expressed his awe at the growth of the event over the past decade, describing it as a wonderful way to honor Chris' memory and support a great cause. All event proceeds went to the Nevada Donor Network, chosen by the Ruby family due to Chris being an organ donor who aided over 90 patients. The event has inspired many to register as organ donors on the spot, showcasing the Ruby family's ability to turn tragedy into positive change. Participants of all ages raced down the slopes for the cup, with skier Max Rostas emerging as the overall winner for the third consecutive year. The event not only brought joy to participants but also raised funds for a meaningful cause. The Ruby family expressed gratitude for the continued support, and Lee Canyon staff hopes for an even larger turnout next year to further contribute to the cause.
