Shots fired, vehicle accident calls turn into homicide investigation in Kansas City, Missouri

Kansas City, Missouri, police officers were sent to a shots-fired call near 63rd Street and Manchester Avenue around 1:15 a.m. Sunday. Before officers got to the area, they also got a call about a vehicle accident near 63rd Street and Beacon Drive, just west of where the initial call came in. A KCPS spokesperson said officers did find a vehicle off the road near 63rd Street and Beacon Drive. Inside, a man had been shot. Kansas City Fire Department EMS tried to save the man's life, but he died at the scene. KCPD said detectives are now investigating the shooting as a homicide. As of Sunday morning, KCPD has no one in custody. Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS.
