Semi-truck and trailer destroyed in fiery crash on I-40
A two-mile stretch of Interstate 40 East was closed for nearly 12 hours after a crash and subsequent vehicle fire destroyed a semi-truck and damaged the roadway near Clyde, North Carolina.Officials said a major motor vehicle accident with fire happened before 8 a.m. Thursday on I-40 East near mile marker 29 and the Great Smoky Mountains Expressway. There were no injuries, but the semi-truck and trailer were destroyed.The North Canton Fire Department said the infrastructure of the interstate was heavily damaged from the crash.According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, a two-mile stretch of the interstate is closed after Exit 27.
