School bus accident on I-49 South in Shreveport.

In Shreveport, Louisiana, two school buses from Caddo Parish were in a collision on the exit ramp heading towards Alexandria on I-49 South. One of the buses was carrying students from Southwood High School's band. At the scene, there are currently 19 law enforcement units and 24 other emergency units present. Caddo Parish Public Schools has issued a statement regarding the incident, explaining that the accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of I-49 and LA 3132. So far, eight individuals, which include a driver and band students, have been taken to local hospitals with minor injuries. All other students are being safely transported back to Southwood High School on alternate district buses to be reunited with their families. The safety of the students and staff is the top priority, and the district is appreciative of the swift response from emergency teams and the care provided to the students. The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the accident, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
