Schenectady resident charged with manslaughter in deadly Colonie collision

In Colonie, New York, Anthony Peterson from Schenectady was indicted for his involvement in a fatal car crash case, as confirmed by the Albany County District Attorney's Office. Peterson faced charges of first-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault for allegedly causing a collision by recklessly driving across lanes on New Karner Road in Colonie in September 2025. The crash resulted in the death of William Merrihew of Albany, who passed away two weeks later from his injuries. Peterson entered a plea of not guilty during the arraignment before Judge William Little on January 23 and is currently in custody at Albany County Jail awaiting his next court appearance. Prosecutors Kayla Meagher and Collin D'Arcy are leading the case's legal proceedings.
