Rogers Police officer dies in drowning
ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) -- A police officer in Rogers has died, in an off-duty incident, just three months after graduating from the Academy. According to a news release from Rogers PD, Officer Fred Marsh, 24, died while canoeing with family at the Elk River on July 18. The release says Officer Marsh served with "unwavering commitment" and that he had already become a valued member of the department. "This is a heartbreaking loss for our department," Rogers Police Chief Jonathan Best said. "Officer Marsh had a bright future ahead of him and had already made a positive impact on those who had the privelege of serving alongside him. His willingness to serve others and the enthusiasm he brought to this profession will not be forgotten. Our hearts are with Fred's family, his fiancee, and everyone who knew and loved him. We ask our community to keep them, as well as our officers and professional staff, in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time." According to the release, there will be no more information about Officer Marsh's death released at this time.
