Remembering Chief Rusty Goins | Thomasville Rescue Squad holds celebration of life service

The Thomasville Rescue Squad is honoring the life and legacy of Chief Rusty Goins. A public celebration of life service for Chief Goins was held on Saturday. Chief Goins died Sunday from injuries he sustained in a car crash on June 29 along Interstate 85 outside Thomasville. According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Chief Goins was traveling north when he encountered stopped traffic. He swerved and then overcorrected before hitting a guardrail and flipping the vehicle he was driving. Goins served with the Thomasville Rescue Squad for 11 years, including four years as chief.
