Reba McEntire mourns ‘Voice’ singer killed in crash: He was ‘brilliant’
(NewsNation) — Reba McEntire is paying tribute to “The Voice” alum Dylan Carter, who was killed in a car accident. On her Instagram Stories, McEntire shared, “We will miss Dylan so much.” “He was a brilliant, kind and talented young man who brought a huge ray of sunshine to ‘The Voice,’” she continued. “Rest in peace, my dear friend.” McEntire coached Carter while on the long-running music competition series. Carter was in a single-vehicle crash on a rural road in Colleton County, South Carolina, on Saturday, according to NewsNation local affiliate WCBD in Charleston. Moncks Corner Mayor Thomas Hamilton Jr. confirmed Carter’s death in a Facebook post Sunday. “Our family is heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dylan Carter in a car accident. As a gifted singer, he frequently entertained our community with his performances at Town events,” Hamilton wrote. He added, “His kindness and charm earned him immense respect, and his absence will be deeply felt. To the loved ones and acquaintances of Dylan, we offer our sincerest condolences during this difficult period.” Carter was scheduled to sing Monday night at the Town of Moncks Corner’s “Music on Main” event, WCBD reported. The event has been canceled. The nonprofit The Local Voice also paid tribute to Carter on Facebook, calling him a “talented musician, and someone who meant so much to our community.” Carter co-founded the Santee, South Carolina-based organization, which provides care to women battling breast cancer.
