Portion of Dempster St. reopened in north suburban Niles following vehicle-on-pedestrian crash, police say

NILES, Ill. — A portion of Dempster Street that was completely closed early Sunday morning in north suburban Niles as authorities investigated a vehicle-on-pedestrian crash has since reopened, according police. According to the Niles Police Department's Facebook page, the crash happened in the 7600 block of Dempster St. All eastbound and westbound lanes of Dempster St. were closed from Ozark Street to Ottawa Avenue, while Ozark St. was closed between Dempster St. and Crain Street. Police were asking drivers to use alternate routes. Further details on the crash have not yet been released by authorities.
