Police seek witnesses of East Bay crash where one died and semi-truck driver left scene
Police are asking the public to help track down witnesses of a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 580 in Livermore that left one person dead and prompted a full freeway shutdown Thursday morning, according to California Highway Patrol. Around 7 a.m., several vehicles converged in a chaotic crash just past the North Livermore exit of eastbound I-580, according to the CHP. All lanes were closed for about three hours while officials worked to clear debris. It was not immediately clear which vehicle the fatality was connected to. Officials did not immediately identify the person who died. One of the vehicles involved in the crash, a gray Toyota Tundra pickup truck, rolled over several times before landing in the center divider, the CHP log showed. A three-axle semi-truck and a gray Nissan Armada also collided and landed in a center divider. CHP said the semi-truck driver left after the crash and kept going eastbound.Officials said they are seeking help from the public in identifying any additional witnesses to the fatal crash.
