Police identify motorcyclist killed in Sunday night crash
AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Police are investigating a fatal crash that killed a motorcyclist Sunday night in north Austin. Officers responded around 9:47 p.m. to a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle in the 9300 block of north Lamar Boulevard, according to the Austin Police Department. The motorcyclist, identified as Luis Angel Gomez-Herrera, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene, was not intoxicated and is cooperating with the investigation. The crash is being investigated as Austin’s 34th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 34 deaths. At the same time in 2025, the city had recorded 38 fatal crashes that led to 42 deaths. Officials noted the information is preliminary and could change as the investigation continues.
