Person seriously injured in crash on I-95 in Newbury, police investigating
A person was medically flown to a hospital after a crash on Interstate 95 northbound in Newbury, Massachusetts, left them with serious injuries. The crash happened just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Both an SUV and a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash, Newbury fire said.The driver of the SUV was extricated from the car and later flown to a Boston hospital with serious injuries. Their condition is currently unknown.All lanes of I-95 were closed while the medical flight was operating. Video from Sky 5 showed a black SUV with extensive damage to the front of the vehicle. Debris from the crash was scattered along the roadway.The tractor-trailer was seen pulled over on the side of the highway near the crash. It is unclear whether the truck driver was injured as well.The ramp from Central Street to I-95 is closed while police investigate. One lane of traffic on I-95 northbound has reopened. Drivers have been urged to avoid the area and travel with caution.
