Pedestrian killed after being struck by vehicle in Kearny Mesa
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A pedestrian was killed early Sunday after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in San Diego's Kearny Mesa neighborhood, authorities said. According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision happened around 1:20 a.m. in the 7300 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. Police said a 42-year-old woman was driving a 2010 Volkswagen Routan eastbound on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard when she struck a 36-year-old man who was crossing the roadway midblock, outside of a marked crosswalk. The man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by SDPD's Traffic Division.
