Drug use suspected in crash that killed one woman, hurt two men in Barry County

One person is dead and two are hurt after a crash that may have involved drug use on Sunday morning. Top stories | Storms for Fourth of July weekend, explosion destroys ice cream shop and more Michigan State Police (MSP) troopers said a Ford Escape driven by a 23-year-old Lansing man headed west on M-37 near Fairview Drive in Rutland Township crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a Jeep Compass driving east on Sunday after 8 a.m. The Jeep driver, a 59-year-old Hastings woman, died at the scene. Her passenger, a man deputies did not provide identifying details for, is minorly hurt. The Lansing driver is seriously injured and troopers said he did not have his seatbelt on at the time of the crash.
