One person dies after a crash leads to a car fire on the highway
GREENFIELD, Wis. -- One person has died after a two-car crash leads to a car fire near the highway in Greenfield. Police responded to the I-894 westbound offramp to 60th Street around 9:45 a.m. on June 2 to reports of the fire. Scanner audio indicated that the fire stemmed from an accident where the car on fire "was not in park and the vehicle behind it was attempting to stop it". The ramp was closed off as crews put out the fire. Early police scanner reports indicate that the driver of the car that was not on fire fled the scene, and is described as a "black male, heavy set with a beard, and a red shirt". The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner was called out to the scene for the person in the other vehicle. The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation. This is a developing story, and we'll provide more details as they become available.
