OHP identifies mother killed in triple-fatal crash on I-35 in Oklahoma City

Her 4-year-old child also died in the crash, but OHP does not release identities of juveniles. Officials said Bayne was driving south on Interstate 35 in Oklahoma City at about 11:30 a.m. when heavy equipment from a separate vehicle fell onto the road. Troopers said they believe Bayne tried to miss the equipment when she crossed a cable barrier and hit a trooper, who was northbound on I-35. The trooper was identified as Vernon Brake, who is survived by his wife and two children. Brake served the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for nearly 20 years, with a significant time assigned to commercial motor vehicle enforcement.The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is searching for the driver whose vehicle was carrying the heavy equipment that fell onto the highway.The crash happened between Britton and Hefner roads.
