New warrants reveal what may have led up to Lynchburg car crash and shooting

Three days after a Lynchburg car crash and shooting, new warrants from the Lynchburg Police Department are revealing what led up to the incident. The Lynchburg Police Department arrested Corey Beaddles following that crash and shooting and issued him the following charges: Abduction by force or intimidation Malicious wounding Assault and Battery Driving after the forfeiture of a license Reckless driving The Lynchburg Police Department said this all happened in the 1300 block of Martin Street on Monday night, just before 8 p.m. LPD said they were called there for reports of a malicious wounding. Below is a redacted copy of the warrants: RELATED: ABC13 Exclusive: Family has questions following Lynchburg car crash and shooting According to the warrants, when officers got to the scene, they found a car flipped over and two injured people nearby, one of them being Beaddles and the other a woman who was also in the car. ABC13 is not revealing her identity as she has not been formally charged. The warrants said the woman told the officer that she and Beaddles had gotten into an argument, which turned physical. The woman said that Beaddles unbuckled her seatbelt and started punching her while holding her hair. According to the warrants, the woman said that Beaddles told her that he was going to kill her while he was punching her. The woman told Beaddles several times that she wanted to get out of the car, but he refused. The warrants said the woman then pulled a gun from her purse and pointed it directly at Beaddles. The woman said Beaddles told her that he would kill them both and started to drive off the road. According to the warrants, the woman told the officer that at some point, she unintentionally fired the gun, and Beaddles was hit. The Lynchburg Police Department said that Beaddles suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital that night. ABC13's Hayden Robertson spoke with Beaddles' stepdad, James Phillips, and his mom, Margaret Beaddles, on Tuesday. The family shared that Beaddles was taken to UVA for treatment. Beaddles went before a judge Thursday morning by video to be arraigned. ABC13 witnessed him limping as he walked in front of the camera. The judge appointed him a public defender. According to the warrants, Beaddles is being held without bond. Beaddles will go for a preliminary hearing on September 22.
