Napa motorcycle crash victim died on her birthday: sheriff
(KRON) -- A motorcycle passenger ejected onto Highway 12 during a crash Tuesday then struck by a passing vehicle died from her injuries on her birthday, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office has identified the victim as Brittany Racquel Rankins, 36, of Sacramento. The California Highway Patrol Napa area office said officers responded to the fatal crash at 1:52 p.m. on May 12 on eastbound Highway 12, east of Kelly Road. CHP said the motorcyclist was splitting traffic when it collided into a black Honda that was traveling in the right lane. The crash impact ejected Rankins into the roadway where she was hit by another car. CHP said the drivers of the other two vehicles remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
