Motorcyclist struck, killed by driver making U-turn in L.A. neighborhood

A motorcyclist was fatally struck by a driver who was making a U-turn early Saturday morning, police say.   According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, units responded to a physical rescue call at 1:20 a.m. at the intersection of Broadway and 59th in the Florence neighborhood.   The motorcyclist, who was not identified, was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Preliminary information from the LAPD spokesperson indicated the driver was going south on Broadway and went to make a U-turn when they struck the motorcyclist. The spokesperson added that the driver stayed at the scene and no arrests were made.   No further information was released. Nancy Fontan contributed to this report.
