Motorcyclist killed in head-on collision with bicyclist on San Gabriel River Trail
A motorcyclist died Friday night after colliding head-on with a bicycle rider on the San Gabriel River Trail south of the 405 Freeway in Long Beach, police said. The crash happened just after 8 p.m. Both riders were ejected and rushed to a nearby hospital, both in critical condition. The motorcyclist later died. The bicyclist's condition has not been released. Witnesses told police the motorcyclist was moving at a high rate of speed and was not wearing a helmet or using lights. Police said drugs and distracted driving are not believed to be factors. The victim's name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin by the L.A. County Medical Examiner.
