Morningstar Farms recalls products; NHTSA investigates fatal Tesla crash in Texas
Morningstar Farms is recalling two plant-based food products over concerns they may contain pieces of plastic. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the voluntary recall affects MorningStar Farms Buffalo Chik'n Nuggets and Hot and Spicy Sausage Patties sold nationwide. Consumers who purchased the affected products are urged to throw them away and contact the company for a full refund. The FDA said no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall. In other news, federal investigators are looking into a fatal crash in Texas that may have involved Tesla's partially automated driving technology. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating after a Tesla Model 3 crashed into a home in Katy, Texas, killing a 76-year-old woman inside. According to a police report, the driver told authorities he was using the vehicle's automated driving system at the time of the crash. However, a Tesla executive disputed that claim, writing on social media that "the driver manually overrode self-driving by pressing the accelerator all the way to one hundred percent of the accel pedal in this residential area." NHTSA records show dozens of special crash investigations involving Tesla vehicles and driver-assistance technology over the past decade. The investigation remains ongoing.
