Victim identified in fatal Appleton accident involving detached dump truck
APPLETON, Wis, (WFRV) - The Appleton Police Department issued a statement earlier on Wednesday identifying the sole victim from a fatal traffic accident in Appleton on June 18. According to police and the Calumet County Coroner's Office, the victim was identified as 61-year-old Victoria Wagner of Menasha. The accident in question involved a heavy-duty wrecker towing a dump truck. The wrecker exited going north on WI 441 onto East Calumet Street when it left the roadway and entered the median. This caused the dump truck it was towing to detach, overturn, and fall atop a vehicle that was stopped in westbound traffic on Calumet Street. The impacted vehicle was occupied by one person, Victoria Wagner. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Investigations into this crash are still ongoing, and no further details, including information on whether the driver of the wrecker would be charged, were released.
