Man arrested in deadly Lake Mary hit-and-run, police say
A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Lake Mary, according to the police department.The crash occurred at 11 p.m. Tuesday near W. Lake Mary Boulevard and Wheelhouse Lane.According to LMPD, officers responded to the scene and located an unresponsive driver.The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. She was later identified as 42-year-old Danielle Akers, of Oviedo, according to police.LMPD located a suspect and their vehicle near W. Lake Mary Boulevard and Forest Boulevard. The suspect driver was identified as O'Vante O'Lan Redding of Longwood.Redding was arrested Wednesday and transported to the Seminole County jail. He is held on no bond.Redding is charged with DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and vehicular homicide. This remains an active investigation.
