Medical air transport rescues injured person from VT-106 accident
In Weathersfield, Vt., a tragic incident resulted in one fatality following a serious car crash. The Windsor County Sheriff's Department reported the unfortunate news after a prolonged emergency response that involved bringing in a medical evacuation helicopter. Initially, authorities indicated that Vermont Route 106 would remain closed for an indefinite period due to the crash involving two vehicles. The closure was announced around 5:30 p.m., with the West Weathersfield Fire Department later updating that the road would continue to be shut until further notice around 8:51 p.m. The section of VT-106 impacted by the incident was located between the shooting range and Stoughton Pond Road in Weathersfield, south of VT-131. Drivers were advised to find alternative routes like Interstate 91 and avoid the affected area. The Proctorsville responders were initially called in to set up a landing area for the medical helicopter but returned to their base later on. Emergency personnel worked to extract a trapped individual from one of the vehicles involved in the crash, providing necessary assistance.
