Massachusetts woman and horse both dead in Madison Co. car crash
LEBANON, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- A Massachusetts woman is dead after hitting a horse with her car in the town of Lebanon. On July 22, at around 9:21 p.m., state troopers came out to Lebanon Road, near Bonny Road, following reports of a car crash involving a horse, according to a statement from New York State Police. After investigating, troopers found that 72-year-old Janet Schwaner was driving eastbound on Lebanon Road when her 2021 Mazda CX-5 hit a horse running westbound in the eastbound lane. Officials pronounced Schwaner, of Wellesley, Massachusetts, dead at the scene. The horse also died in the collision. Troopers noted that an investigation is ongoing.
