Man takes own life after being hit by semi-truck on E-470
The northbound lanes of E-470 in southern Aurora were closed for over two hours on Friday afternoon after a tragic incident where a semi-truck hit and fatally injured a driver who had exited his car. The collision occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. near the Gartrell Road exit. According to a Colorado State Patrol spokesperson, the SUV driver had pulled over and intentionally stepped in front of the oncoming truck, resulting in his death. The 59-year-old man took his own life. The semi driver stopped at the scene and collaborated with authorities. A detour was arranged for motorists to exit at northbound Jordan Road and then re-enter E-470 north of the accident site.
