Man found shot to death inside car after crashing near E. 63rd Street in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man was found shot to death inside a car early Sunday morning in Kansas City. The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) said just before 1:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 63rd and Manchester after sound of shots were reported. While on the way, officers received updated information about a vehicle accident near East 63rd Street and Beacon Drive. When officers arrived, they found a car off the roadway. Inside the car, they found a man who had been shot. A Kansas City Fire Department crew arrived and began performing life saving measures, but medics pronounced the man dead at the scene. This is being investigated as a homicide, according to KCPD. No one is in custody at this time. Detectives are working to determine what led up to shots being fired and the victim being struck. KCPD said investigators and crime scene personnel are looking for witnesses, physical evidence and any available surveillance footage.
