Man found guilty of murdering Hattiesburg teenager accused in deadly collision
A man who was previously found guilty of the murder of a 15-year-old girl in Hattiesburg is now being charged in connection with a deadly crash in Stone County. The individual, identified as Javan Stovall, is facing two counts of manslaughter and failure to comply with law enforcement signals after the incident that resulted in the deaths of Maelania Dixon and Cameron Henderson. Stovall, originally from Carson, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The crash occurred on Highway 26 on August 15, 2023, when Stovall was driving a stolen vehicle. He is currently serving a 40-year sentence for the homicide in Hattiesburg and is scheduled for trial in Stone County in January 2026, although it may be postponed.
