Man facing negligent homicide charges in connection with Benton County motorcycle crash
AVOCA, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A 45-year-old man is facing multiple charges in connection with a Thursday afternoon crash in Benton County that involved a motorcycle. The crash was first reported around 12:30 p.m. on Highway 62 at Russell Road in Avoca. A motorcycle and an SUV were reportedly involved in the crash. Arkansas State Police, the Benton County Sheriff's Office, the Pea Ridge Police Department and Avoca Fire and Rescue were on scene following the crash. KNWA/FOX24's Doug Warner reported that a coroner was on scene, but the full extent of the injuries has not been released. A spokesperson with ASP told KNWA/FOX24 that Jose Gamez was arrested in connection with the crash for two counts of negligent homicide and one count of driving while intoxicated. Gamez is also listed as a hold for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to his booking. Reports by the Arkansas Department of Transportation say that several lanes of traffic were impacted for roughly an hour and a half. No bond has been listed for Gamez as of 11:30 a.m. Friday.
