Man charged with DUI involving death after crash in Upstate, troopers say

A man has been charged with DUI involving death after a motorcycle and a truck collided in Anderson County, South Carolina, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Troopers say the crash happened at 12:30 a.m. Friday on Highway 413 at Haynie Drive near Belton.The coroner's office said a preliminary investigation shows that the motorcycle was driving on Highway 413 towards Belton when a truck, traveling the opposite direction, attempted to make a left turn onto Haynie Drive causing the collision. The driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet. The motorcyclist was killed and the pickup truck driver was uninjured, troopers said. The motorcylist has been identified as Joseph Ray Clardy, Jr. The driver of the pickup, Nelson Daniel Cooley, is charged with felony DUI resulting in death.
