Man charged in fatal Shem Creek boat crash that killed Citadel cadet
One person has been charged in connection with a deadly boat crash that claimed the life of a Citadel cadet. Edward Marion Tavel III is charged with manslaughter in connection with the April 25 crash that killed 19-year-old Citadel cadet Evan Greenleigh . According to court records, Tavel appeared before a judge Tuesday for a bond hearing. He was granted a $50,000 personal recognizance bond and released from custody. The crash happened on April 25 when a boat carrying seven people struck a dock near King Street in Mount Pleasant's Old Village. Greenleigh died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. The six other occupants, including the boat's operator, were taken to a hospital for treatment.
