Maine juvenile cited in connection with Raymond crash, officials say
A juvenile from Maine has received a citation in connection with a crash that happened in Raymond on Tuesday, according to authorities. The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened at about 7:30 a.m. on North Raymond Road.Investigators determined a black 2026 Nissan Rogue, which was being driven by a Lewiston woman, and a 2017 Honda Accord, which was being driven by a juvenile from Portland, were both in the same line of traffic that was traveling south on North Raymond Road.According to investigators, both vehicles attempted to pass the line of traffic in a marked no passing zone. As the Nissan moved into the northbound lane, it collided with the Honda that was already in that lane. The crash caused the Honda to overturn and officials said there was significant damage to both of the vehicles involved in the crash. The Sheriff's Office said both drivers were treated for minor injuries at the scene.Officials said the juvenile driver was cited for imprudent speed, and that the investigation will determine if the driver of the Nissan will be cited or charged in connection with the crash.North Raymond Road was shut down for a short period of time while the scene was investigated and the roadway was cleared. The Sheriff's Office said the crash remains under investigation and any additional enforcement action will be determined once the investigation is complete.
