Lawyer for woman in fatal TFD truck crash calls situation deceptive
Keiosha Rucker's lawyer is speaking out about undisclosed details in the case against her. Rucker faces a lengthy prison sentence for her involvement in a car accident with a Tulsa fire truck in February 2024. Although she pleaded no contest to charges including manslaughter and DUI drugs following the deaths of four individuals and an unborn baby, including two of her own children, her attorney, Nathan Milner, believes the public has unfairly judged her. Milner is filing a lawsuit against the City of Tulsa and the Tulsa Fire Department, arguing that the fire truck driver was speeding excessively at the time of the collision and that Rucker's actions were not the sole cause of the tragic event. The lawsuit claims that Rucker had a reasonable perception of time to complete her turn when the fire truck unexpectedly moved into oncoming traffic, leading to the collision. Milner contends that Rucker did not have the necessary reaction time due to the circumstances. Despite acknowledging her responsibility in the crash, Rucker and her attorney plan to seek leniency during her sentencing. Additionally, another survivor from the crash, Ataja Martin, has also taken legal action against the City of Tulsa and the Tulsa Fire Department, alleging reckless driving on the part of the fire truck driver. The Tulsa Fire Department has stated that it is their policy not to comment on ongoing legal proceedings.
