Lawsuit filed against H-E-B and others by families of four women who died in Texas Panhandle accident
The families of four women who tragically died in a crash on US 87 last November have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against H-E-B and three other parties. The lawsuit, submitted in Bexar County on December 23, lists H-E-B, Parkway Transport Inc, Scrappy Trucking LLC, and Guadalupe Daniel Villarreal as the defendants. It was filed on behalf of the families of the four victims: Breanna Brantley, Taylor White, Myunique Johnson, and Lakeisha Brown. The lawsuit seeks compensation for various damages including mental anguish, loss of financial support and earning capacity, loss of companionship, inheritance, funeral expenses, and other exemplary damages. The legal action calls for a jury trial and requests a temporary restraining order preventing the defendants from tampering with key evidence like the vehicles involved, witness statements, drug and alcohol test results, and Villarreal's phone. H-E-B responded to the lawsuit by expressing sorrow over the accident, clarifying that the driver involved was not an H-E-B employee, and confirming cooperation with the investigation. In the incident, the four women were traveling in a car on US 87 in Hartley County, when they encountered a flat tire. Unfortunately, an 18-wheeler driven by Villarreal rear-ended the car. Villarreal sustained minor injuries, while the four women tragically lost their lives at the scene. The lawsuit claims Villarreal was likely distracted by his cell phone while driving.
