NTSB releases fatal crash report of plane that left from Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN)- The NTSB has released its preliminary report following the Middlefield plane crash that killed three people. On June 20, the plane left from Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport before crashing about one mile east of the Geauga County Airport. The NTSB says air traffic control advised the pilot to deviate to avoid weather. The pilot responded, saying they could see through the precipitation that appeared to be light. When the aircraft was about 9 miles away from Geauga Airport, the pilot canceled flight-following services. According to the report, a witness reported that she saw the airplane cross above the tree line into her property from east to west in a straight and level attitude. The witness said that the airplane made a sharp right turn followed by a steep, nose-down descent into a field. This was the final communication with ATC and the pilot before the plane crashed. No cause has been determined for the incident.
