Lawrence County, Ohio, fatal crash under investigation
IRONTON, Ohio (WOWK) - A Lawrence County man died in a single-vehicle crash in Lawrence County Thursday morning. The Ironton detachment of OSHP says the crash happened around 9 a.m. on State Route 243 near milepost 7. Troopers say the driver, whom they identified as Timothy R. Pemberton, 69, of Ironton, was traveling west on SR243 when his 2015 GMC Sierra crossed the center line. The vehicle then went off the left side of the roadway before striking an embankment. OSHP says Pemberton was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky, where he was pronounced dead, troopers say. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing the investigation, and they say at this time, drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be a possible factor in the crash.
