Lancaster man killed, Boyle County deputy hurt in Junction City crash
JUNCTION CITY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Lancaster man died from his injuries on Tuesday night after allegedly hitting an SUV driven by a deputy with the Boyle County Sheriff's Office (BCSO). A March 4 news release from the Kentucky State Police shows that just before 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, troopers with the Richmond post were contacted regarding a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hustonville Road (US-127) and West Shelby Street in Boyle County. An initial investigation showed that a deputy with the BCSO was driving a black 2023 Dodge Durango and was turning left onto West Shelby Street when he was allegedly hit by a southbound driver on US-127 who disregarded a traffic signal and hit the deputy's SUV. The man who allegedly hit the deputy, identified as 27-year-old Michal Mingey of Lancaster, was taken to Ephraim McDowell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries by Coroner Ed Guerrant, per state police. The deputy was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. An investigation into the Tuesday night crash remains ongoing.
