"It's hard for everybody": Grieving father speaks after daughter killed in rideshare crash

In only a matter of a few days, six lives have been lost on Prince George's County , Maryland, roads. One of those is Adriana Maxwell. "It’s only been three days, but it feels like a year," said Carl Watson, Adriana's father. 7News met him as he was laying flowers for his daughter on Wednesday. "I just really miss her and wish this would have never happened," he said. Police said the young mom was killed over the weekend when the rideshare she was in didn't yield the right of way at 301 and Governor's Park Lane in Upper Marlboro. A motorcycle, according to police, crashed into that rideshare and right into the backseat where Adriana was sitting. Police said the two other people on the motorcycle were killed, too. "It’s hard for everybody," Watson said. "My family, her mom’s family, everything is just in shambles right now. I’m trying to hold on because I have to hold on for her siblings." Prince George's County officials said the crash and the one on Wednesday morning in Adelphi are still under investigation. They said fatal crashes are down from last year, but even one is concerning. On Wednesday, they warned people to stay alert when they're driving, put their phones down, and wear seatbelts. "It’s controllable," said George Nader, chief of police at Prince George's County. "These lives do not have to be lost. So we’re asking for help." Carl is asking for help, too, as a neighbor in Upper Marlboro. "They need to figure out another way to be able to turn into this neighborhood; they’re building all these developments without taking the chance to turn into it, but like I said here, it would take nothing but to put a traffic signal for people to turn into this neighborhood," Carl said. Maintaining State Road 301 takes a combined effort between Prince George's County and the state of Maryland to get something like a traffic signal put in.
