Investigation underway for fatal accident on I-55 near Springfield
Illinois State Police are investigating a fatal accident that took place on Interstate 55 close to Springfield over the weekend. The crash, which involved multiple vehicles, happened around 10:38 a.m. in the southbound lane near milepost 98. Trooper Shafer McKune confirmed that the southbound lane will be closed for an extended period as the investigation takes place. Motorists are being redirected off at exit 100.
