Investigation into deadly crash on Route 12.
A fatal crash occurred on Route 12 in Groton on Tuesday morning, where a vehicle collided with a steel traffic pole. According to authorities, an officer spotted a vehicle driving at a high speed around 2:36 a.m. The driver allegedly ran a red light and performed an illegal U-turn before attempting to evade the officer. The driver lost control while turning onto Kings Highway and hit a pole, resulting in life-threatening injuries. The occupant was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. A firearm was found in the vehicle. The driver has not been identified, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Groton Police Department.
