Suspect in deadly Placer County hit-and-run crash arrested in Martinez

A man was arrested in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash in Placer County that took place last month, according to the California Highway Patrol. Previous coverage in the video player aboveCHP said the crash happened on May 26 around 11 p.m. on Interstate 80, east of Clipper Gap. A commercial vehicle was headed westbound and hit the center divider, causing its trailer to separate and enter the east bound lanes. The trailer hit a Ford F-150, killing the driver.After the crash, the driver of the commercial vehicle fled the scene, officials said. Robert Bell, a 60-year-old man from Stockton, was identified as the suspect in the crash. On June 18, he was found in Martinez and arrested, CHP said. Bell has been booked into the Placer County Main Jail and is facing felony charges of hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
