Indiana Toll Road section near South Bend closed following 30-car pileup
Part of the Indiana Toll Road near South Bend had to be closed down following a series of accidents involving almost 30 vehicles on Wednesday afternoon. Indiana State Police announced that eastbound traffic on Interstate 80/90 was redirected at exit 83 near Mishawaka, while westbound traffic was diverted at exit 96 at County Road 17, all due to multiple crashes near mile marker 94 at the Bristol Toll Plaza. Around 30 vehicles, including numerous semi-trailers, were caught up in the incidents. Authorities anticipate a prolonged cleanup effort. Severe lake effect snow has been causing traffic disruptions in Northwest Indiana throughout the day.
