IDENTIFIED: 13-year-old killed while riding moped in northwest Fresno
FRESNO, Calif (KSEE/KGPE) – The teenager killed in a crash involving a moped and a truck in Fresno on Friday was named by the Fresno County Coroner's Office on Saturday. The Coroner's Office identified the teen as 13-year-old Dominiq Puentes of Fresno. Officials say Puentes was the lead rider on the bike. The incident occurred at the intersection of Bullard and Palm Avenues in northwest Fresno around 10:40 p.m. when police received multiple calls reporting a traffic collision. Upon their arrival, they learned a white truck travelling east on Bullard Avenue had collided with a moped. Officers provided medical care to the riders, however, Puentes was pronounced dead. Investigators say the 12-year-old passenger remains hospitalized in critical condition. Police initially provided different ages of those involved and described the moped as a motorcycle in earlier reports. Officers said the truck's driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. They do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
