I-65 closed in Brentwood following deadly multi-vehicle crash
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WKRN) — A portion of Interstate 65 in Brentwood was closed for hours Friday morning due to a deadly multi-vehicle crash. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation's Smartway Map, the crash was reported at approximately 4:29 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-65 near mile marker 74.2. Officials said traffic was diverted at the Old Hickory Boulevard exit. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes. In a statement to News 2, the Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed the crash resulted in a fatality, adding that the interstate would be closed for an "extended period" as troopers investigate. At 9:41 a.m., the two right lanes of the interstate reopened. TDOT officials said the interstate is expected to fully reopen at 11 a.m. It remains unclear what led to the crash. No additional information was immediately released.
